TONE BROKER (NZ/OZ/BZH/FR)
...is not an ordinary DJ. He's a musical schizophrenic. In general it is
very hard to know where his mix will take us, but one thing is certain, it will
will give the groove. And love. Tone is not one to hide behind his
turntables and even less to organize his sets from A to Z. He is present when he plays,
its goal being to connect with the crowd. His sets depend on you, the location,
the energy of the room, the style of the evening, the time of year and the
lunar phase (obviously)...
After 11 years of singing and playing psychadelic rock and funk guitar, he started in
98 to play electronic music live (without sequencer) with machines and
instruments. First alone, then with acolytes from Byron Bay,
music freaks. Their musical odyssey involves deep techno,
psy-trance, breakbeat, dub and drum & bass. Tone starts as
that dj in 2000, and became one of the most involved and diverse djs on the coast
is from Australia, holding 4 to 5 residencies per week, and playing styles as well
different than breakbeat, hip-hop, funk, soul, latino, dub, reggae, rock, techno,
psychedelic trance, drum 'n' bass and lots of house like deep / progressive
/ minimal / funky / disco / afro / latin / jazzy / tribal/ tech / electro...
Tone presented a weekly radio show on Bay FM (Byron Bay -
Australia) for 7 years, which allowed him to be in tune with the artists of the
moment. He has played with artists such as Laurent Garnier, Keith Flint (The
Prodigy), Krafty Kutz, The Avalanches, Synapson, Feder, Freq Nasty, Pendulum,
Ebony Bones, Mondkoptf, Soul of Man, The Cuban Brothers, Sergant Garcia, Carl
Kennedy, Sporto Kantes, Moguai, Orange Blossom, La Yegros, Mass Hysteria,
Successs, Ben Mono, Le Cercle, Grupo Fantasma, Hugo Kant, Bio Ritmo, Luciano,
Tayo, Maelstrom, Katalyst, Pulpalicious, The Next Men, Mo'Horizons, Quantic
(and the Quantic Soul Orchestra), Alice Russell, Fat Freddy's Drop, Nicodemus,
Captain Planet, Sonic Crew, Jimina Angel, Yannick Noah, Nadia MacAnuff, Delgres,
Boozoo Bajou, Future Roots (Digital Afrika), Flox, Greyboy, Dublex Inc, Ursula
Rucker, Keb Darge, Mexican Institute of Sound, Russ Dewbury and many others. He
has played major festivals in Australia and is now based in France
(Brittany) since 2007. For 2024 the former presenter of the electro show
French, “Plug In”, finds with a new energy and look at all the
world dance music: electronic or not, and thus builds a set ready for
explode – Literally!!!
